The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type Could Fix That

Whenever a major prize-giving event nears, one notices an outcry for introducing of new categories to recognize unsung work and fill the passions of followers who have specialized interests.

My colleague previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. That would be fantastic. The same goes for tabletop games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. Yet I need to apologize in advance for pushing forward since similar to blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request is the most urgent and important of all. The demand is this: It's essential to create an award type for logic-based games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents an unavoidable compromise in the world of video games, that demonstrate such variety it's challenging to consider them as a single art form.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to have a chance for representation, genre categories are essential.

Existing Game Classification System

The major gaming awards presently include award types recognizing Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Collectively, these award types effectively encompass a lot of ground, allowing placement for numerous titles.

This doesn't apply to logic-based experiences. There’s simply nowhere to put them. Consider three of this year’s best games, all very different: structural challenges from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. Which classification works within current classifications? Simply put, no category fits.

Acknowledgment Issues

Numerous examples exist excellent brain-teasers released every year lacking appropriate categories during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit award groups including Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title got overlooked completely in 2014
  • Another imaginative release missed out that year
  • Popular arranging title was overlooked in 2021
  • Limited numbers of brain-teasers managed to sneak into niche award types

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often modest productions, however the design of the puzzle game carries substantial weight. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most engaged experiences globally maintaining this status for an extended period.

The famous puzzle experience challenges popular creative games for the title of most purchased experience; it also contends as greatest title ever. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, while interacting with almost every other genre.

Proposal and Rationale

Puzzle games wouldn’t have that issue. It would be easy to populate multiple candidates interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these include experiences lacking appropriate categories in important events. Brain-teaser creators are working at the challenging frontier of video game design, developing some of the purest expressions of gaming itself. Just like film action specialists, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait generations.
