19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with former coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet saved four early break points in a close final set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
